Three chapters. One medical philosophy

Chapter One

Dr Patel’s medical career began in the Royal Navy, where he spent nine years as a Medical Officer before leaving at the rank of Surgeon Lieutenant Commander.

Military medicine shaped an approach that remains central to his practice today: make considered decisions under pressure, take responsibility for those decisions and never lose sight of the person behind the clinical problem.

Chapter Two

Following the Royal Navy, Dr Patel moved into NHS General Practice, where the breadth of medicine gave him a different perspective on patient care.

It was during this chapter that his interest in dermatology and skin health deepened. Rather than focusing solely on what was immediately visible, his approach became centred on understanding the wider clinical picture, questioning underlying causes and considering what would genuinely benefit the patient over time.

Chapter Three

In 2011, Dr Patel entered aesthetic medicine.

He was drawn to a field with enormous potential, but one evolving at remarkable speed. His medical background made him naturally questioning: Why this treatment? What is the evidence? Is it right for this patient? And will it genuinely improve the outcome?

Those questions continue to guide his clinical practice today and have gone on to shape his work in education, speaking, skincare and innovation.

Champion evidence over hype.

While much of aesthetic medicine focused on treating the surface, I became committed to regenerative aesthetics - advancing evidence-based treatments that work with the body's natural biology to repair, restore and support long-term skin health. My approach has always been driven by clinical evidence, patient safety and outcomes that deliver meaningful, lasting results.

Innovation should never exist for its own sake. Every treatment should be evidence-based, clinically justified and focused on achieving the best possible outcome for every patient.

From the treatment room to the global stage.

Today, Dev's work sits across four connected areas: clinical practice, skincare, education and communication.

He continues to treat patients through Perfect Skin Solutions, develops evidence-led skincare through CellDerma, trains practitioners through Perfect Skin Academy and shares his experience through international speaking, professional education and media commentary.

The settings may be different, but the principle is consistent: make complex medicine clearer, make clinical decisions more considered and help raise the standard of care.
